Bushfire assessment, mitigation and planning is an essential part of protecting people and property in the Australian landscape.  Yarramine can provide tailored solutions for clients who seek a customised approach to meeting obligations under State and Local planning frameworks. This assists in balancing development goals, asset protection, bushfire risk and ecological outcomes.

For subdivisions in bushfire prone areas, we can work with your Architect or designer to provide design advice and evaluate options for locating sites and roads/paths to minimise bushfire risk, provide appropriate access/egress, establish the Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) rating ranges for individual lots and address Council requirements.

For proposed dwellings in bushfire prone areas, we can carry out BAL assessments, a fundamental requirement for Building Approvals and regulatory compliance with the Building Code of Australia.  Here an assessment is required by the Building Certifier in order to obtain building approval and these are carried out accordance with Australian Standard AS 3959-2009 Construction of buildings in Bushfire Prone Areas.  The BAL level determines the construction requirements for the dwelling.

Our bushfire assessment & planning services include:

  • Determination of Bushfire Attack Levels (BAL) in accordance with Australian Standard AS3959-2009,
  • Vegetation, ecological assessment, fuel load analysis and mapping in relation to bushfire planning and land management,
  • Bushfire Management Plans for bushfire-prone sites in support of proposed subdivisions,
  • Due-diligence property bushfire hazard assessments, and
  • Responses to bushfire performance criteria within development planning processes.

Our team has extensive experience providing bushfire services for a range of urban development projects throughout Queensland and northern NSW.  Our team has an excellent understanding of the intricacies of the legislative framework (State and Local).
