Pro Tip #5 - Camera Placement & PIR Motion Sensor
Where it Triggers
Overexposure, Obstacles & Camera Focus
For this one, you can have it lower to the ground and angled almost straight out. The PIR sensor detection range is 24m in most cases and the IR flash will reach out to 18m.
Proper Elevation & Angle
The best position for the MINE Camera is to place the it above the panels looking down into the trap enclosure at the rear (opposite the gate). This will elevate the photo and look down into the trap location and will also let you know when something is inside the trap and leave you with less false triggers or from movement outside of the trap location.
To the left is an example of an elevated picture looking into the trap location, this will allow you to see everything under the feeder and also view the gate entrance so when you drop the gate you can identify that it is down. We also place the camera on a separate star picket at least eight 30cm away from the panels to prevent the pigs from damaging the camera once the gate is dropped.
Using some of these examples will help you succeed in capturing the entire sounder while having proper placement, angle and clear of any obstructions.

Trap Demonstrations & Workshops
Trap demonstrations are generally provided free of charge in conjunction with the purchase and delivery of a trap kit by a customer at or near to the location of delivery. These demos generally cover the methods and equipment needed to set up a JAGER PRO MINE Trap including programming cameras and giving the trap a dry run so that users are familiar with the system before deploying it in the field.
Workshops (other than at our trap demonstration site near Crows Nest) are generally subject to fee to cover the cost of time, travel, consumables and accommodation if necessary and are not linked to a purchase. Workshops cover approximatley 1-2 hours of theory/classroom instruction with several hours of hands on training setting up and pulling down a trap system.
To request a Trapping Demonstration (1-2hr in duration) with your purchase or a Trapping Workshop (6-8hrs) at a location of your choice (subject to a fee as noted above) or at our Crows Nest demo site (at no cost but a minimum of 15 particpants is required) please contact Principal Environmental Scientist, Nigel Kimball on (07) 4698 2335 to discuss details.
